Things To Do In Brighton Which Families Will Love
Brighton is one of the UK’s most visited seaside cities and it’s no surprise to fans of the city that it is sometimes referred to as London by the Sea. A vibrant and exciting place to be, Brighton manages to combine traditional seaside charm with fashionable city life and is a great place for families to visit.
Brighton is an ideal place for the whole family as there is just so much to see and do. The beach of course is a major attraction for families and you can expect to find all the usual seaside amusements on offer such as arcades and fairgrounds. If your children enjoy the outdoor life and the weather is good there are also lots of good-sized parks that are well equipped and near to the West Pier there is a park with a paddling pool – good fun for younger children.
The Marina is packed with things to do from eating out to shopping but there are also plenty of child-friendly activities too. Here you’ll find boat trips, virtual golf, cinemas and bowling; something to keep everyone occupied. There are lots of family friendly places to eat at the Marina, you can choose from American, Italian, Indian or Chinese food to name just a few.
The oldest cinema in England is in Brighton and The Duke of York’s Picture House is a Grade 2 listed building. The Saturday morning club here runs films for children and makes for a good mornings activity. The Komedia Theatre is a comedy club for children and there is a good line-up of shows available to watch here that both adults and children will enjoy.
There are lots of museums to choose from in Brighton with the Toy and Model Museum probably topping the list for a family visit. Described as an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of toys from around the world, old and new, the Toy Museum will keep the whole family interested. The Sealife Centre is another great place to visit, children are able to touch crabs and starfish in the open rock pools and there is a walk-through underwater tunnel that has sharks swimming around. Sealife is home to up to 150 different types of sea creature including rays, seahorses and giant turtles.
The Volk’s Electric Railway runs throughout summer along a route that starts at the Pier and ends up at the Marina. A pleasant ride with lovely views of the coast, this narrow gauge railway is the oldest electric railway in the world.
