London, capital of England and the United Kingdom and home to around thirteen million people, is one of the greatest cities in the world. Buckingham Palace is the home to Queen Elizabeth II and should be on everyone’s list of places to go when visiting London. The palace itself is a fantastic spectacle but the main attraction to most is the changing of the guard ceremony that takes place every day at 11:30am during summer and every other day at the same time, during winter.

London is home to some of the best museums in the world and all of the major museums in London are free to enter. A couple of the best museums to visit are the London Science Museum which has some great attractions for visitors of all ages, the Natural History Museum which holds some of the best examples of dinosaur skeleton on the planet, and the British Museum which not only has been free since it opened in 1753, but also contains over seven million artifacts and one of the best collections of Greek and Egyptian antiques in the world.

Art is something that London does best with some of the most extensive collections in the world. The Tate Modern and the Tate Britain are two of the best in London. The Tate Britain focuses on British artwork from around the sixteenth century up to the present day, while the Tate Modern (as its name suggests) focuses on contemporary work from around the world.

There are also a range of different free events and attractions presented around the capital daily, from comedy nights to theatre, and lectures to music. Spending some time on the internet should very quickly bring up some great ideas for exciting things to do for free in London.
